(I made that banner.  I have pride.)
So we had a little soiree for our girl.  It was mostly family with one or two of her little friends.  I wanted to keep it nice and simple, so we did rainbow food and bubbles.  I put food coloring in some bubbles so they could do "bubble art" (see the paper on the line outside?) which was a good idea, but it also seemed delicious to my girl, so there was some imbibing going on.  So she was blue for the rest of the day.  I just left it.  That's just my girl.
Then it was getting close to naptime so there were pacifiers to get us through to the end.
 These are my crazy eyes.
I love my little girl.  Thanks for coming and the sweet gifts.  Special thanks to my sis for coming and setting up and preparing and to Sara for taking these beautiful pictures!

Player of the week

(By default, it was the last week. But still. I told him he had to try his best every game, and he definitely did.)

This little boy has been four for a few months (he is already talking about being five soon...) but I got behind on his physicals a couple years ago, and since his annual date was close to Felicity's physical last year, I started doing them at the same time.  So, I present my darling four year old.

This boy is so sweet.  He is funny and witty and smart.  He is very detail oriented and always has his ears perked, waiting for something he can use.  He never forgets.

There is nothing like snuggling with this little man, and he doesn't mind indulging his mommy every day.  He makes me feel loved, and I love him back, so very, very much.

Stats: 41 inches (46 percentile) and 38 pounds (59th percentile).

My little girl is two years old.  I called her my baby at the doctor's office today and he said "she's not so much a baby anymore."

I know.

This girl makes me happy every single day.  She converses like a five year old.  She orders me around like the queen of England.  She really, truly thinks that she is in charge, and no one is willing to argue with her.

She makes our lives so full.

Stats: 34 inches (53rd percentile) and 33 lbs (97th percentile).

Choo Choo

Did you know that I can't swim?
It's true.  I can't.  I flunked out of several years of swim lessons until my parents retired me.
I hope not to pass on this problem to my children.  Therefore, I put Charlie in swim lessons last year.

He does not like swimming.

However, the other day we went swimming and Felicity lowered herself calmly into the deep end, and then "choo choo-ed" around the entire perimeter of the pool.  Then, she got out at the steps, and went back for a second time.

Maybe we aren't all lost causes?

(Charlie will resume swim lessons this summer.  There will be bribes.)

Since Greg left, I have been taking video a lot more so that he doesn't miss out on too much with the kidlets.  So, here are three, in case anyone else wants to see my peeps.

Charlie singing at the church talent show.  Please note Felicity, singing along in the background.  (And I think someone was telling her to go on the stage, haha.)  May 18, 2012

Felicity doing her ABC's.  May 18, 2012.

Charlie reciting a scripture that he had memorized for church.  May 6, 2012.

A signal that she will attempt a body piercing in the future?  Oy.

This orangatan and Felicity were good friends.  He was chewing on sticks, and he kept opening his mouth to show them to her.  Charlie was playing with a little girl and wouldn't sit with him for very long, but Felicity would have stayed there all afternoon.

My boy and me on Mother's Day.
A great day for me to remember the mothers in my life who show me how to do it better all the time.

And a day for my boy to make me a card (at school) and a little corsage (at church) and give me a hug and say "I love you mama" and for my girl to give me a hilarious little card that she picked out just for me (and a little gift, also "from" her, thanks Aunt Stacy).

A good day.

Since we are having a birthday party in a few weeks, and I was actually leaving town for a girl's evening out on the day of Felicity's birthday, I am afraid I was a little lame on the actual day of her birth.  However, the evening before we were invited to dinner at friends, and THEY weren't lame at all; they made cupcakes for my girl.

Topsy tail

Who else had a Topsy Tail in the 80s/90s? I needed to spend a couple more bucks for the free shipping on, so I got myself (Felicity) one.

Two posts in a row of Charlie's activities; it's been a busy week for him.  He is in a little preschool singing group, and they had their concert a few nights ago.
 Muscles.  Naturally.

 With his teacher.

I promised better pictures back a few weeks ago, but I have never gotten my act together and brought my camera to one of the games.... but luckily one of the better prepared moms brought hers, and grabbed some shots of my boy.

He and this little girl pushed each other several times during the game.  Yikes!  But it never got too violent, so it was sort of funny.
He got a few kicks in!  This game (second to last of eight) was the first time he got in there with the ball and I was terribly proud.
