To my sweet husband...

...thanks for being born!

Am I embarrassed that the most recent photo I have of him alone is his mission? Yes. Actually, I think I have some from our wedding of just him, but not on the computer. Still, even that one would be almost four years old. I think we need a photo shoot.

Recently

My sister has complained of late of my lack of blogging, but, if you can believe it, nothing is going on. But Charlie got a haircut. So that is what you are getting, Stacy.
Here is a before. This is Saturday at Aunt Jill's house. And that is a BYU jersey. Greg dresses him in jerseys every Saturday. Here he is nursing his capri sun Monday night.
Here he is checking it out in the new mirror (my delightful birthday present. And we are working on the "no touching!" and my little brother stole my glass cleaner, so ignore the smudges).
Remind you of anything? No? I am just too into Harry Potter?
I think he likes it.

Shelby

Yesterday we went to visit Gramma M for her birthday (HAPPY BIRTHDAY, WE LOVE YOU!) and Charlie got to play with her 42 year old tortoise. It makes me laugh to think that my dad had this little guy (don't let the name Shelby trick you, he is all man) when he was a little kid, I fed it lettuce when I was little, and now Charlie is watching him. He said "turtle, turtle!" Okay, he said "to-tah, to-tah."

It was 104 degrees, so we didn't stay outside with Shelby very long, but he wanted to back out there the whole time we visited, so when we left I told him we could go say bye bye to Shelby. Charlie went outside and marched directly to where we had found him before (under the BBQ) and bent over to look underneath again. We said "Charlie, he won't be under there this time, he will be somewhere else" but, sure enough, he was back there. Charlie tried to pull him out himself, but we let the poor turtle enjoy his nap.

Kissing Cousins

One of Charlie's new words is "baby" so I thought I would pull up pictures of his new cousin to show him "BABY." He got right down and started kissing my computer. There was a fair amount of saliva involved (although, to be fair, I think most of the drool came from the teething.)
Look at the baby, mama!

Pride

I built it all by myself.

And there is room for like six more books. I need to go shopping! Just kidding. The top two sections have my books (G is on top of the case and the shelves hold H-M) and the bottom two have Charlie's and the bins have some of Charlie's toys. I am pretty pleased about it. Plus, as I pointed out to Greg, we could move the toy bins if we needed more books (he disagrees. He says we are now on a "buy one, get rid of one" policy).

At least I need ONE more H, because Nick Hornby's new book came out today! (But, sadly, only in the UK. I have to wait until the 29th to get it here.)

Anyway, I think it looks fetching, and I am proud of my brute strength.

New Arrival!

Yesterday the new little niece was born! I was 100% certain it was a boy, and I almost bet the whole blogging world $100 to that effect, but I am glad I didn't, as it would have made all of you $100 richer.
7 pounds, 14 ounces and 20.5 inches of perfection.
We love the new baby girl! (Name TBD.)

September!

I can't believe that it is September already! I had a lot to get done this summer that I...didn't. Oh, well. I will get it done this fall instead!
I love the month of September, for several reasons. It is an excellent birthday month. Sara, Gramma M., Jenny, me, Greg, and my dad, to name a few (and I mean to name a few, because there are more!) Plus, both Ken and Tristen and Jenny and Austin are having babies this month! (Ken and Tristen as we speak, Jenny later on in the month.)

Anyway, a couple of random items/updates.

We finally got some of the stuff put away in our new house. I guess we have lived there almost two months, so I can't really use the excuse that we just moved in anymore. It is sort of still a wreck, but only in my bedroom, so no one knows. Except Greg and I, who get injured hourly on the stuff laying around.

We mounted the TV in our new house on the wall above the fireplace because there wasn't really a good place to put it. This has proved delightful in several ways, one being that Charlie can't reach the buttons anymore. But, I was worried that our family looked like we were too centered around the TV, seeing as it is now the center of the wall (I guess I should be more worried if we actually ARE centered around the TV as opposed to whether we just LOOK like we are, but I have admitted before and I will admit now, we like to watch TV! And we do it together, so it counts as family time! And I refuse to be ashamed!) (Speaking of TV, did you see that my favorite TV family has announced they are having their 19th baby?)

Anyway, I wanted to make an area where we at least LOOKED like we were family-centric and not TV-centric. =)
Also, our bookcase celebrated it's 3rd move by collapsing (on my head. And then my mother in law's head.) This is not Ikea's fault, I say. I just think no one and no thing is made for 3 moves in 3 years.

We are proving our continued loyalty to Ikea with this. I am pleased, as it provides a lot more room, and I can rescind my (half-hearted) pledge to not buy anymore books.

Other updates include that I am reading and loving the Harry Potter books. I know, I know, what took me so long? I don't know, but in any case, I finished #4 yesterday and they are just delightful. More layoffs at my work mean that I now officially work 6 days a week (for the same pay. Oh the delights of being an exempt employee). So, I am supposed to work Saturdays, but so far they have been pretty nice about letting me answer emails/voicemail from home, as well as dabble in little projects. And, they are still letting me work from home on Thursdays, which is another YAY (I am surprised, but I am not arguing).

Other than that, life has been pretty quiet. I think Charlie's current wretchedness comes from cutting three of his eye (I?) teeth; I have heard they hurt pretty badly. But we still love him. Greg is still working hard and taking the LSATs in a couple of weeks. He has 2 football fantasy teams going now and we are pleased about the upcoming season!
