New Calling

For anyone who is less familiar with the lingo in our church, a "calling" is what we call the various jobs that are done in the church, i.e. Sunday School teacher, etc. The leaders ask various church members to do the various jobs that need to be done. Anyone who has kept up on the blog knows that Greg's is the Scoutmaster and mine was the choir director. Sunday I got a new one. I am second counselor in the Young Women Program, so I will be working with the 12 and 13 year old girls.

I am excited. But scared. And it is making me feel old. When I was 12 and 13, I thought my YW leaders were old. Now I am the old one.

Murrieta Birthday Party

Every year just before the 4th of July, Murrieta has birthday party. It is basically a 4th of July party with funnel cake and vendor stands and fireworks, but Temecula hosts the 4th of July party, so Murrieta has to take the "Murrieta Birthday Party" instead.
We drove up there to join in the fun.

Charlie and Stacy matched.
He didn't really want to take a family picture. Sisters! Stacy had Charlie wrapped up in her sweat shirt, so that is why a baby is coming out of her stomach.
Another family picture.
Watching the fireworks.
We thought he would scream during the fireworks, but he loved them. He just stared and stared. We were so busy watching him watch the fireworks, we pretty much missed them.
A fun Saturday afternoon and evening.

Rice Cereal

Charlie is not keen on rice cereal.
Please just give me milk!

Its pretty funny. These pictures are his second time trying out the cereal. My mom says she is a "solid food professional" so we brought him over to her house to try it out. It turns out that she is a solid food professional only when the baby is wanting to eat. Charlie just lets the cereal sit in his mouth until it makes its way to the back of his throat, where he starts coughing it up. We are still trying it though, so maybe he will start liking it sometime soon. For now, the faces he makes are priceless.

Four Months

Monday, June 23rd was little Charlie's four month birthday. He had his four month check up on Thursday, more shots. =( I was just as horrified by the shots as the first time around, but he was fine. He cried during the shots but stopped when they were over. Poor little guy. He stopped crying after shots one and two, but after the third one, he kept crying because he thought they were goint to keep coming.
Anyway, he is 19 pounds and 26 inches long. He is 99th percentile for weight and 90th for height. Also 99th for head size. It is just chalk full of brains!
They also said to start him on solid foods. He is not too keen. Here he is waiting to eat. He is such a big boy! Where has my little tiny baby gone?

Mommy loves the Baby Gap

Who says boys aren't as fun to dress as girls? Those little shorts!!!! Have you ever?!

I saw pictures of my newphew Corban sitting in a little Bumbo, which is a chair for babies that cant sit up yet.
I saw them on sale at Target the next week, so I picked one up for Charlie.

It has improved my ability to do laundry and dishes immensely, because he sits in there and watches happily while I do my chores. So cute!

And, yes, his shirt says "turtley awesome." He is that cool.

Thank goodness for daddies!!

We're so glad to have him home!

Mommy is happy to see that Charlie appears to love to read as much as she does. We usually read to him, but I thought I would give him the book and see what he did with it, and he was very interested.
He even turned the page once.
Hooray for reading!

New Glasses

We both got new glasses....

What do you think?

Very Handsome. Not only Greg's glasses (and funny face) but also Charlie's rapidly balding head at the bottom of the picture. He isn't actually going bald, he is going blonde, but compared to his dark baby hair, it is hard to see. When he is completely blonde, he won't look so funny. Mine are blue! I really liked them until yesterday, when I got a look of myself in the mirror and decided I don't like them as much as I thought. So someone leave a comment that will renew my love for them.

Charlie's New Trick

Charlie has a new trick, and he is loving practicing it. It is a primal scream, war cry, and pterodactyl call all rolled into one. It hits a frequency that one can only imagine until one actually hears it.

He isn't mad. He doesn't need anything. He has just discovered that he loves the sound of his own voice. The louder the better.

He practiced his new trick throughout the whole of church yesterday, and during the wee hours of the morning today.

I used to think he was a perfect child. I now know that his perfection came not from a desire to be well behaved, but a lack of awareness about his true vocal potential.

He has discovered that potential, and is determined to not let it go to waste.

Heaven help us.

Greg's Coming Home Today!

We can hardly wait for this afternoon, when Greg/Daddy gets home!!!
Some pictures from the week....

Mommy's Little Monster
Talking to daddy on the phone...
With Uncle Wesley More of the monster. He's really only a monster in the car seat, but this weekend he rode in Grandma Brenda's forward facing car seat and was LOVING it. So, I am going to go to the store and look around for one. And don't worry about his age. I called a chiropractor and two pediatricians, and they say once he hits 20 pounds, he is fine to sit forward facing, even if he isn't a year. Twenty pounds has come (and gone, I think...) so forward facing it will be!

I have another video of him laughing, so I will maybe post that one later...

This week...

We are so grateful that Wesley is staying with us!! But we REALLY miss daddy! =(
He will be home Saturday, we just have to get through! Grandma H keeps teasing me about how I wouldn't make a good Navy wife. That's for sure!

Holding his own bottle....That started a week or so ago, and it is pretty cute. Uncles are so fun!
Laughing at Wesley's faces. The sleeper in this picture and the picture above belonged to Uncles Spencer and Wesley when they were babies.

Here is Charlie, laughing away...

I am the one saying "Charlie" and Aunt Stacy is in the background making him laugh.

How does everyone in the blog world but me have a super cute "header" with pictures and their names, etc on their blogs? How do I get myself one of those?

Happy Father's Day!!

Happy Father's Day!
I am going to look into scanning a cute picture of me with my dad and one of Greg with his, but I will have to see if there is a scanner in this house (I am staying with my parents for the weekend since Greg is gone...)
When I get home I will post one of Greg and Charlie, but I don't have any on this computer.
Greg and I both have great dads and Greg is the best dad ever to Charlie. So, thank goodness for fathers!

Charlie bit me!

It has come to my attention that some of our readers haven't seen this video, which is a family favorite, because we like to say "Charlie" in the little accent, so here it is for anyone who has missed it!

Our big piece of news is that we are moving! But, nobody needs to gasp, we are just moving across the street. Spencer is moving in with us August 1st, so we wanted somewhere bigger. Plus, we are getting a garage!!!!! YAY for garages! And an upstairs apartment, and a PANTRY. So we are pretty excited.

We are moving in July 12th, so if anyone is in town to help us truck our stuff across the street, come on over.

Next, Greg is at scout camp all next week. We are really going to miss him!! =( But it should be fun for him.

Work has been totally crazy for both Greg and I. He is seeing like eleven clients per day, and almost all of them retain the office. He has been working six days a week! I have been doing more and more and more at work, so I am slowly getting to figure out everything they are expecting of me. I am really loving it though. I love getting to stay at home with my little boy.

Stacy had our camera for a little while because she went to New York, so I have been catching up on all my picture taking of little Charlie. So, beware, about ten posts follow this one...

Party at Dennys

Dad, Wesley, Stacy, Greg, Charlie, and I all went to Denny's this morning...

Learning to grab Stacy's placemat. With Aunt Stacy.

A Walk

Charlie was mad on Thursday while Greg was at mutual, so we went and did his favorite thing - took a walk!

He is a very happy little baby.He has recently discovered that he is in charge of his own hands and he is very fond of chewing on them.

Hi, mommy!

Uncle Spencer's Graduation

We went to Uncle Spencer's graduation on Friday. We didn't get pictures of Spencer (my dad took all of those) but we will get them emailed later and post them up then.

We were ridiculously early, so here are Greg and Charlie waiting to go in an wait some more. I forgot Charlie's hat, so he wore Grandpa Phil's hat. Me and one of my favorite teachers from high school, Mr. Trainer.

Bath Time

Charlie really loves the bath.

Strip Poker

Greg and Uncle Spencer were playing rummy the other day when Charlie decided to leak out of his diaper and all over mommy. So, I changed his diaper and went to get myself cleaned up before I got him in new clothes. He was very intent on the cards and it was making me laugh so I took a few pictures.
When they came out I died of laughter because it looks like he is losing at strip poker or something.

Malicious Content

Today I tried to look at my blog. Lots of red writing and those signs with the exclaimation point came up and said "WARNING, you are trying to view a phishing website." I said that I wanted to see it anyway and it said "ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO VIEW THIS SITE? IT MAY HAVE MALICIOUS CONTENT!"

For some reason, I find this hysterically funny. I am having a hard time getting over it.

News Story from Yesterday...

Aerial police search targets bank robber

7:24 a.m. June 3, 2008

DOWNTOWN: A bald, heavy-set man robbed California Bank & Trust at noon and may have headed to Mission Valley a short time later, San Diego police said.

The robber walked into the bank on B Street near India Street, demanded money from a teller and left, police Sgt. Garry Collins said.

Witnesses described him as white, in his 50s, 5 feet 8 inches tall, up to 300 pounds, with blue eyes, bald and clean-shaven. He wore a black, long-sleeved T-shirt and black jeans and carried a black backpack.

Within 45 minutes, a police helicopter was circling Fashion Valley mall and the Town & Country Hotel at Hotel Circle North, broadcasting the robber's description. No arrest was made.

Isn't This the Truth?!

Monday, June 2, 2008

My sister is in New York with our camera, so everyone gets a break from all the lovely pictures I take of our little boy. Quick note though, the child is like nineteen pounds now. Three months and nineteen pounds?! And I need to get him a new car seat already, which I am bummed about. Does anyone know a good car seat that is rear facing but big enough for an enormous child?
Anyway, today I had an adventure at work. Just a minor one. The hotel where I work is right next to Fashion Valley Mall, to orient those who are familiar with the area. Anyway, where is a Wells Fargo Bank right there. Some man went in there today and robbed the stinking bank. Then, he came on over to the hotel to hide out! The police were all over the property (the Town and Country is like a mile long, it isn't like one building of guest rooms) and the security guards were all over the place trying to track him down.

Anti-climatically, no one found him. He is still out there. But it does lead to interesting conversation.
