My First Video

This video isn't terribly interesting, but I guess I didn't realize you could take video on our camera, so I have never tried it. Greg took this one without us knowing he was videoing, so we are all trying to get Charlie to smile for the camera. Spencer was making weird cawing sounds. More interesting videos promised.

The one of Charlie kicking his legs in the pool is like a minute and a half long with his kicking only in the middle twenty seconds, so I didn't post it because I didn't think it would be worth it to anyone to watch the whole thing to see the brief kicking. Another swimming episode might bring a better video.

Charlie took his first swim yesterday with Greg and Uncle Spencer. Here are some pictures:

That is one way to tire a baby out! I'm going to strive to post a video of him kicking his little legs in the water. Not sure I can do it...

New Obsession

I'm. Totally. Hooked.

Hi, Aunt Renee

Aunt Renee gave Charlie this cute little nightshirt, and I just love to see his little feet sticking out the bottom.

He looks like a major chunk in this picture. What a cute little monkey. Tristen exercises self control in not always calling her kids cute (which they are) but I have none. I call him cute all day long.

We had a fun weekend. We headed over to Balboa Park. Balboa Park is very important to Greg and I for a couple of reasons. First, it is a San Diego landmark, so it is important to everyone in San Diego. Second, we went to Balboa Park every year for Valentine's Day all the years we were dating. Third, we took our wedding pictures at the park. Since it was a Saturday there were a few weddings going on so it was fun to see the brides and remember how fun it was to do our pictures there.
Some pictures at the park:
Daddy and Charlie watching the ducks and fish.
The ducks kept diving to find food. Call me five, but it delighted me to no end.I like koi fish. They are so colorful. At the fountain. They have this thing called the "chalk fund" where people donate money to Balboa to buy chalk for kids to draw on the ground there by the fountain. It is really fun. We hope Charlie will get to use the chalk there someday.
Overlooking some of San Diego.
Great zoom on that camera!
My boys are so handsome!
Family pictures in the garden. The guy who took these for us was wearing a Paraguay shirt, which was bizzare because practically no one but missionaries go to Paraguay. Greg asked him about it and I guess his nephew met a girl on the internet from Paraguay and went there to marry her. Greg got to tell him about his mission, which was fun.

After Balboa Park, we went to the Corvette Diner in downtown San Diego (Hillcrest). Greg used to go there with his dad and step mom as a kid, when they lived in Hillcrest. It is a fun 50's diner with good food and good music. All the waitresses have big beehive wigs too, which is funny. They give out bazooka bubble gum at the end of the meal instead of mints, which we also liked. They also do contests during dinner to win a whole box of bubble gum. One of the contests was that they played the song "Wipeout" and everyone had to drum during the drum solo. So, below are Charlie and I trying to win some gum!! (We didn't. Darn.) That picture was taken on my camera phone, so that is why the quality isn't great. Still pretty good considering though.

To end the day, we visited Grandma Henry. Charlie fell asleep the second he got into great Grandma's arms!

We enjoyed the weekend. Too bad it led to the week, when we need to get stuff done! Speaking of, the laundry needs rotated before Charlie wakes up for second dinner.

Smiley Boy

I am in love with this baby's smile!

What a goof.
Don't mind his lack of clothes in these pictures. This morning he went #2 (those of you who have/had breastfed babies may remember the bright seedy yellow #2 that they can create) ALL over mommy and the computer chair. I have never seen so much yuck! (A sales pitch for oxi clean stain treatment though, everything looks clean as the day we bought it). Anyway, we jumped in the shower and afterward he was smiling a bunch (he was proud I guess) so I took these pictures before he got dressed again.
In other news (sorry for that slightly disgusting story, but little things become news when you stay at home with your baby I guess, haha), I started back at work yesterday! I missed Charlie SO much. I cried when Greg left for my mom's. Charlie will go to Grandma's during the day; Greg will drop him off before he goes to the office. Anyway, according to my mom he didn't miss me at all, which I guess was supposed to be a good thing. He was perfectly behaved for her, so that is good. The one thing about having family members watch your baby is that I get paranoid that if he is naughty (like he was for cousin Brooke and Aunt Stacy a couple of weekends ago while we went on a date) they won't love him anymore. I am sure he will be naughty for grandma at some point, but she assures me that she will still love him.
Anyway, work was good. I am glad I am easing into it though, because eight hours at the office was a LOT. Plus, I appeared to have missed the whole month of March. Yesterday was February 22nd, and today is April 17th! I haven't really written the date anywhere since I was last at work, so I kept writing "3" for the month and having to cross it out. Anyway, I got a huge pile of projects to work on from home and I go into the office again next Wednesday.
The baby keeps spitting out his pacifier so I better look into feeding him. He just ate, but he hardly ate at all during the day today (I couldn't get him to eat for longer than five minutes and usually he eats for 30) so I guess he is making up for it.

New Pictures!

I had plans to post a blog with updates of news and such, but i have discovered ants have invaded the computer desk, so now I need to do some major cleaning and call the managers to get them to spray!
The two pieces of news I will cover quickly: I go back to work tomorrow, but I will be from home full time except for special occasions where they will need me in the office. May 19th I will start back at the office a couple days a week, but home most days. Other news, Charlie's blessing will be May 4th at 1:00pm. Anyone who would like to come is invited. We will post pictures afterward, so if you can't make it, you will see those! =)

The biggest news got its own post, so don't forget to read that one, just below.
You can be my wingman anytime!

I am extremely fond of his little overalls. Please give mommy a little smile!Happy little baby! (As long as you stop poking my cheeks to get me to smile!)I don't know if you can tell here, but he is staring up at the bears on the mobile. Those bears are his little friends, he smiles at them at talks to them while he is in the swing.

New Cousin!

Charlie is excited about his new cousin, Corban! Born April 13th, 7 pounds, 10 ounces, 20 1/2 inches long!

Here are his two cousins, Avery and Corban:

Congrats to Ken, Tristen, and Avery!

A couple of things for this last week or so...
First, General Conference ended today, and it was SUCH a great set of meetings. I loved them all. I am so glad for President Monson's talks. I have always had a hard time enjoying his talks because they seemed so randomly put together and I couldn't find the specific topic they were supposed to be on (not that that should be important, but I guess it was to me). In any case, these talks from this conference were so wonderful. He definitely wore the mantle of the prophet!
Charlie had two main landmarks since I last wrote, and they are big ones! First, Thursday night, he slept through the night! I use that phrase sort of liberally I guess, so I better define: he slept from about ten pm until about four thirty am. He woke up around midnight, but after getting the pacifier, went back to sleep without another feeding. HUGE for us!!! He has been waking up for a feeding about every other night since then, but it has been a lot easier to sleep lately and mommy loves it!! The other big landmark is that he has started to smile at us more and more. We are pretty sure he means it when he smiles now, so that is the landmark. Having him smile at us is the most amazing feeling in the world. Almost as good as it might be when he first says "mama" or "dada" or "I love you." =)
Next is a report on illness. I got mastitis (an infection some breastfeeding women can get, but it generally comes from bacteria in the baby's mouth so it doesn't get passed back to the baby, thank goodness. I spent a couple of days just completely sick. My fever was about 102 degrees for most of Thursday. Greg was able to take a sick day to take care of Charlie, which was such a blessing because I was just too weak to even hold him for long periods of time. One really wonderful thing happend on Thursday afternoon. Greg had been holding him all day, I had just been pumping his food because it was too painful to feed him directly, so he and I hadn't been hanging out like usual. I was in bed the whole day and they were in the other room most of it, letting me sleep, so we didn't even see each other a lot. Greg brought him in the bedroom and laid him next to me while he went to do something and Charlie turned to me and smiled the biggest smile ever, as if he had missed me. Call me feverish, but I totally cried. =) And, don't worry Grandma Mackey, I am on antibiotics for the infection and I am 100% feeling better!
Finally, the upstairs neighbors aparently had their water heater break, and they didn't do anything about it, so water is now soaking the entire half of Charlie's room. We are having to move the crib, the desk including the computer, and most of Greg's music equipment and get the carpet torn up and replaced, which is a huge bummer. I don't know what's up with them up there, but whatever. At least nothing serious happened.
Oh, and we decided to go ahead and send out baby annoucements, due to the unanimous affirmative response we heard from everyone, so if you would like an annoucement and don't think we have your address, please email it to us and we will get you one. Also, you can post it as a comment and I will just reject the post so no one else can get the address but us (the comments don't get posted unless I approve them, so there wouldn't be any problem with your privacy.)
Below are some new pictures. As I say so often, we just think Charlie is the greatest and cutest thing ever. Because of that, I take tons of pictures of him, so just humor us with that I guess. Some of them are sort of similar, but, like I said, he is so dang cute it is hard to choose!!

Smiling at daddy! Tongues out!

In these ones he looks like he is up to something, which is cute. =) Probably up to making a messy diaper for mommy!

As always, thanks for visiting and enjoy your week!
